Hubs & Switches play an essential role in connecting devices within a local network. Although they serve similar purposes, their efficiency and intelligence differ significantly.
A hub broadcasts data to all connected devices, making it simple but less secure and often slower due to unnecessary traffic sharing. It works best in small, low-demand environments.
A switch, however, sends data only to the intended device, improving speed, reducing collisions, and enhancing network performance. Modern networks rely heavily on switches for smoother, more reliable communication.
